Crate Paper: Open Book

This is a double post day. See my Mama Elephant post HERE.

The new Maggie Holmes collection, Open Book, is full of so many inspiring moments. From great colors to glitter, flowers to thoughtful sentiments, there is something that draws you in and invites you to create. For hours.

When I first sat down with this collection I created four projects. Let's take a look!

First I started with the large hello sentiment and layered it with patterned papers, paper embellishments, tags and a label.

The soft black in this collection is such a great balance for all of the color.

Next, I embellished a simple box with a buildable flower, tag and die cut shapes.

The sides gave me a chance to add some fun polka dot patterned paper that adds to the whimsy of this collection.

There are so many fun book references in this collection. Perfect for scrapbooking every day life but also great for making a bookmark or two!

I cut out patterned paper to start my bookmark, then layered a fun sentiment, vellum pieces and die cut pieces.

My final project was another card. I couldn't wait to use the gold stickers! Little hints of gold are found throughout the collection and add perfect amounts of shine.

For this card I layered a frame, the gold sticker, die cut shapes and a vellum sentiment. All on top of a great neutral patterned paper.

This collection is full of hidden gems just wanting to discover! I hope you enjoyed seeing some of them today. Thanks for joining me!

Mama Elephant: Peace on Earth

This is a double post day. See my Crate Paper post HERE.

I love the big bold sentiments found in the new Mama Elephant stamp set, Peace on Earth.

I started this card by die cutting Femme Frames. The back panel was stamped with the new borders set Boutique Borders. I rotated the angle of the stamp on each side to make a fun trendy background.

I love the big bold seniment so I kept it simple in black and finished my card with die cuts from Round and Rounds. These were cut out in white cardstock, inked with Distress inks and then finished off with some clear Wink of Stella.

This set is a true classic and a perfect addition just in time for the holidays! :)

Mama Elephant: Artic Penguins + Jolly and Merry

Hi Everyone! This Mama Elephant release is THE BEST! These penguins are my favorite and the pair SO nicely with the rest of the release.

For my first card, I die cut the base panel with the large Peek a Frames die. Next I cut a Femme Frames inner die and stamped it with the Boutique Borders thin stripes in Apple ink.

The next layer is a journaling card die from Peek a Frames stamped in Hazel with the polka dots from Boutique Borders.

The final layer features the adorable penguin, sliding, holding on the cuppa coffee. All the images are from Arctic Penguin and Jolly and Merry. These two stamp sets are perfect for one another!

I  just couldn't put these penguins down for this release! This time they play more of a supportive roll in holding the ends of the sentiment (isn't Kryssi's handwriting the best!?!?).

I double stamped the sentiment with two inks. I especially like the Apple and Coral "jolly". It reminds me of a candy cane! The card was layered with the Index Card die, Tag Your It Die and the largest die from Peek a Frames.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Mama Elephant: October Anniversary Stampede!

It's Mama Elephant Birthday Stampede time!

This is so awesome, right? I'm so excited you've joined me from Stephanie's blog! Today I'm a sharing a lot of stamping goodness! Now that I'm counting, my card uses 4 new Mama Elephant stamp sets!

This card all started with the sentiment. My kids are always buzzing around the house singing and one of their favorite is Everything is Awesome (Lego Movie anyone?). :) I started with a faint pencil line to create AWESOME from the new Block Party Letters. I colored them in with Copics and then did some creative masking and stamping from Happy Everything to add the beginning of the sentiment.

Next I stamped the penguin and hat (from the new Artic Penguins), colored them and die cut them for a perfect cut. The soft, grey striped background was created using the new Boutique Borders.

All stamps and dies can be purchased NOW at the Mama Elephant store HERE.

Next up? The very talented JJ Bolton!

Bella Blvd: Mummy Attack!

Hi! Halloween is just around the corner and my kids are SO excited! Costumes are picked out, crafts are being's a fun time of the year! I created this card for Bella Blvd a few weeks back but saved it to share this month. :)

Bella's Halloween line, Halloween Magic, is adorable. Ghosts with bow ties? Sweet wrapped mummys? Yes please!

This ghosty patterned paper is my favorite from the line. I die cut a window in it from Paper Smooches' Stitched Frames Dies (this has been a go to die for me lately) and back mounted the mummy image.

I added a few fun colored embellishments and layered it all over the orange patterned paper.

Because people always ask....A few stores that carry this line are A Cherry on Top HERE and HERE or of course you can check your local scrapbook store. :)

Mama Elephant: Peek a Frame

Hi, Ashley here ready to show you more ideas using Mama Elephant's new Peek a Frames!

The layering possibilities are endless! I started with the large, card size, frame in white. Then I layered the next size but arranged on it's side and trimmed the extra.

Next, I added a tag from Tags a Lot and then added the rounded journaling card from Peek a Frame. Last, be definitely not least, I inked up In My Heart to stamp with sweet little girl and sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed seeing another fun way to use the amazing Peek a Frames!

Mama Elephant: Winter Wonderland

Hello! Today I'm sharing the new Creative Cuts that were just released for the Winter Wonderland stamp set.

This is one of my favorite holiday sets so I am thrilled that the dies have been released! This card was really inspired by the sentiment I used from the Winter Wonderland stamp set. After I chose my sentiment I stamped the deer in sparkly gold ink then die cut them out.

I stamped the sentiment next on the scalloped tag from Tags a Lot and then ground it with the banner from the same die set. I set the scene with the medium sized tag, again from Tags a Lot and then added a few coordinated patterned papers.

A little more sparkle was added to the card with some sequins and enamel dots. I'm so excited to have another card done for Christmas! Thanks for joining me today!

Mama Elephant: Tag A Lot

Hi Everyone! Today I'm sharing another fun project you can make using the new Tags a Lot Creative Cuts.

For this project, I dressed up a simple gift bag using three of the dies found in Tags a Lot. First I die cut the largest tag from patterned paper. Next I layered in the medium sized tag and stamped it with one of my all time favorite sentiments from Confetti. To bring attention to the sentiment, I die cut the banner in Tags a Lot twice and wraped it around the medium tag. I chose the simple hole reinforcer die for my tag, also included in the Tags a Lot die set.

A few enamel dots, twine and some gold glitter finished off my project. Gift giving just got easier with these awesome dies! I can't wait to make more tags!

Crate Paper: Composition

Pinterest is bursting with great ideas for composition. The elements of almost any picture can be broken down, studied and put towards new creative ideas!

This picture, of concrete painted candle holders grabbed my attention almost immediately. There are so many fun, trendy elements going on, I was inspired and ready to create!

First up, I wanted to recreate the stacked feel to the picture. To do this I took a journaling card from Notes & Things and found three colorful embellishments and adhered them to the card from largest to smallest, just like the pictured.

Since the background of my inspiration was mostly white, I chose a larger journaling card that matched this idea to be the background of my card. I love the playful colors popping out in the picture so I have a few colorful surprises above and below the smaller journaling card.

The sentiment was the finished the card and adds a natural element too!

I had to make one more card because the angled painting in the inspiration picture is SO amazing! I mimicked the angles as best I could, again using papers from Notes & Things.

The rest of the card is playful and layered but allows the angled paper to make a bold statement at the bottom of the card.

What kind of inspiration in composition can you find? Happy creating!

Mama Elephant: Peek a Frames

Hi! Ashley here today sharing a card with the new Peek a Frames dies! I love layering and these dies are the perfect set to do just that!

I created my card with the three largest dies from the set. You'll notice in the smallest die, that I cut two pieces of cardstock and then used the Landscape Trio to create a sweet landscape. All the stitching is so trendy and matches perfectly!

Next, I stamped, die cut and colored the sheep from Carnival Cupcakes and added a sentiment with the die cut banner from Sweet Havana.

I love the unique details in the frames included in Frames a Lot and how it works so effortlessly with all the other ME dies and stamps!
